With top NCAA men’s and women’s teams as customers, ShotTracker develops analytical tools that capture basketball stats in real time, improving not just athletic performance but the entire gametime experience.
The situation
ShotTracker sought to integrate their vast stores of on-court, sensor-based data with machine analysis of video footage to create an all-in-one athletic performance app that coaches, players and reporters could access in real time via a chatbot interface. This would be a complex, potentially game-changing evolution in basketball coaching—and it required a degree of AI and ML expertise that only Loka could provide.
The solution
Loka helped ShotTracker build ShotTracker Scout, an AI-powered, conversational coaching assistant that delivers on-demand video and analysis based on natural-language voice or text commands. Scout streamlines pregame scouting and analysis and facilitates smarter strategic and personnel adjustments during games, creating a better overall basketball experience not only for players and coaches but also TV commentators and fans.
Project results
In use by more than 50 NCAA women’s and men’s basketball teams, ShotTracker is already transforming the way coaches prepare for games and strategize on the court.
With AWS and Loka’s ML expertise, ShotTracker can scale beyond hardware limitations, opening up new markets and customer segments.
